14 November 2018 - A96 Survey Update

The proposed NW routes of the A96 are causing great deal of negative comment. My inbox is full overwhelmingly of people outraged by the environmental damage the routes would make.
 

Debating the Agriculture Bill

Today the SNP spent a lot of time calling for agricultural policy to meet the needs of Scotland, with which I agree. But they seem to have completely forgotten that agricultural policy is devolved to the Scottish Government.

Transport Scotland and their consultants Amey/Arup arranged for several public exhibitions to encourage feedback or comments from stakeholders, landowners, local communities and other interested parties.   

Online Retailer's Tax

In reply to many emails about a “so-called Amazon tax”, I agree with the principle that online retailers must pay a fair share of  tax.  I and other colleagues recently met with Rt Hon Philip Hammond MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer, and the government is considering this area.
