I am delighted the PM has asked me to serve as a Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Scotland, alongside new Secretary of State for Scotland Alister Jack MP and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State Robin Walker MP.
I am joining the Scotland Office at an important time for the Union, with a new Prime Minister working to ensure our departure from the EU by October 31.
My immediate thought upon accepting the role was the tremendous contribution of David Mundell, who is stepping down after nine years in the Scotland Office.
Mr Mundell was an excellent Scottish Secretary, and I very much appreciate all his hard work.
A strong Scotland is fundamental to the Union and I look forward to working with Alister Jack and Robin Walker
