A96 Dualling Scheme

5 November 2018

A96 Dualling East of Huntly to Aberdeen

The commitment by the Scottish Government is to dual the A96 by 2030.  Since 2016 I have been engaged with the A96 Dualling Project, in my previous role as an Inverurie Councillor and now as your MP for Gordon.

Firstly, I would like to confirm I live close to one of the proposed routes however this does not preclude me from representing my constituents affected by the plans.  Improvements to the A96 are welcome to reduce the traffic, however, it’s route is contentious.  Two things agreed on, are, Inverurie traffic has to be relieved and the environmental impact should be minimised.

There have been 10,000 plus engagements on my facebook regarding the A96 issue and I launched a survey in October to further extract responses.  The survey collated to date, confirms the majority of responses are against pushing through largely unspoiled farmland and are in favour of staying on the existing route with work to dual where necessary.

Transport Scotland are collating feedback until 22 November 2018 and I encourage all interested parties/people to feedback.  Information can be found https://www.transport.gov.scot/projects/a96-dualling-inverness-to-aberd…
